Dextrose is a monosaccharide, a single chained carbohydrate that is absorbed very quickly by the body. It is ideally taken directly before, during or after training to maintain blood glycogen levels. Taken with protein, it can increase the body's ability to utilise amino acids.
For a great carb combination, simply mix dextrose 50/50 with maltodextrin. This combo will ensure rapid uptake with a higher osmolality than dextrose alone.

Dosage
Dextrose will rapidly spike insulin levels which can aid protein synthesis around training. It can also be used as an energy source to fuel workouts. We recommend a dose of between 30 - 50g directly before, during or after training. The only people who may want to avoid dextrose are those looking to reduce their weight (in this case all rapidly absorbed carbohydrates should be avoided)
