At Bulk Nutrients HQ we like to keep abreast of the latest trends in food and supplements. So when a customer sent through the Mashable article titled “Frosting-stuffed croissants are this year’s Cronut” we were extremely excited!
Turns out the latest dessert fad to hit America is concocting wild and wonderful flavours of croissant, then stuffing them full of frosting (more commonly known as icing to us Australians). Sugar? Butter? Caaaaarbs? What’s not to love?!
It’s the off season (aka, bulking season) for the Bulk employees that compete in various bodybuilding federations, so it’s the perfect time to try this cheat meal to end all cheat meals.
The result was simply breathtaking…
And here’s how we made them…
Prep the icing
We used an electric mixer to blend together 2.5 cups of white sugar, 113 grams of room temperature butter, pinch of salt, 1 Tbsp of milk and 1 tsp of vanilla extract. Once it’s combined, throw in a liberal amount of hundreds and thousands and transfer the mix into a piping bag. This mix is enough to fill 4 croissants (just don’t think of the nutritional values!).
Chop and pipe
Cut the croissants in half, then pipe a liberal amount of icing mixture into each half. And you’re done. If it’s too hard to follow, try viewing this video:
From our experience these should be consumed in a comfortable place, as in all likelihood you’ll nestle down for a nap shortly after eating it. The sugar rush and carb-coma is that intense.
