This is quite a common question amongst people who lift!  I hate it!  Am I the only one?

Just in case anyone else hates it as much as I do, I have made up the following handy questionnaire for us to hand out next time someone asks this question!

Have we trained for exactly the same amount of years/months/days? ⃝     Yes     ⃝     No
Are we at exactly the same point in our training program? ⃝     Yes     ⃝     No
Are our goals exactly the same? ⃝     Yes     ⃝     No
Are we on exactly the same amount of calories? ⃝     Yes     ⃝     No
Have we been on exactly the same amount of calories for exactly the same amount of time? ⃝     Yes     ⃝     No
Are we at exactly the same phase of our training, e.g. strength, hypertrophy, fat loss, agility? ⃝     Yes     ⃝     No
Have we had exactly the same number of children? ⃝     Yes     ⃝     No
Have we had exactly the same injuries/sickness? ⃝     Yes     ⃝     No
Have we trained for exactly the same amount of days this week? ⃝     Yes     ⃝     No
Have we trained for exactly the same length of time and intensity for all of our training sessions? ⃝     Yes     ⃝     No

If you answered YES to ALL of these questions, then welcome to the family!  And by all means let’s get together and compare weights for squats, benches and deadlifts!  Otherwise, let’s continue to be interested and inspired by others’ journeys, but not compare our own!
