My Fitness Journey with Bulk Nutrients - Kiara Small

Recently, Bulk Nutrients fan, Kiara Small wrote in to share her fitness journey with us, and shared her praise about how our products helped her achieve her goals. Kiara lost a total of 43kgs in under 2 years. It’s always such a pleasure to hear that our products have made a positive influence on someone’s life – it is one of the main reasons that the business was started after all! We thought her inspiring story was worth sharing, so we decided to interview her for the Bulk blog.  Check out her story and transformation below!

Then, and now. Kiara Small has made an incredible transformation.

What made you want to change your life, health and fitness?

2 years ago I weighed 100kg’s. I had 2 children very close in age and over that time I let go of myself. I was in possibly the darkest place you could be. I self loathed and couldn’t stand to see my body this way. At 24 years old that’s a hard place to be! Looking back over family Christmas photos, I decided then and there that I would never be ashamed of myself again.

Why the gym and not a sport/group fitness class?

One day a friend pushed me into the gym- I was scared, fat and knew nothing about training. This is where my love affair with weights training started. I began lifting weights religiously, 6 days a week. My alarm would go off at 5:30am so I could be home before the kids woke up, day in, day out. I fell in love with the grind! My body began to respond and the weight started falling off. The changes that you see when weight training is magic!

How often do you train?

I am in the gym religiously 6 days a week. I am currently focused on my power lifting which sees me in the gym for about 2 hours each morning. I add in 1 or 2 cardio sessions a week on top of this- its more for the disconnect time that cardio gives me.. it’s free therapy!

When did you start taking supplements? And how did you discover Bulk Nutrients?

One morning I overheard some guys talking about their new WPI- I did what anyone would and began googling away. WOW! I was so interested in this world of supplements and what they could help you do! I however soon found most companies were in America – and I didn’t like this at all. I wanted to support a local Australian company. Then I found you. Bulk Nutrients

What supplements are your favourites and why?

I began ordering your products and supplementing solely with your proteins and creatine. What a difference this made, not only to my body composition but to my training. My favourite protein is WPC in vanilla- I LOVE it! The flavour works so well in cooking, shakes, on my oats in the morning!

When did you start bodybuilding?

In 2014 I decided it was time, I was going to compete on the bodybuilding stage! I felt my body was ready for the preparation and that I had great building blocks to work with! I Stepped on stage for the first time in May 2015 as a figure novice!

How did you go?

Fuelled with amazing supplements and a fire in my belly I did it. I competed. I stood on stage at 57kgs (yes a 43kgs loss) and competed in the ANB WA State Warfare as a figure novice. I didn’t expect too much going in as it had been such a journey for me but I placed 2nd! I couldn’t believe what I had achieved. 2nd- in the state! This ignited a fire in my belly and I want to step it up!

What are your goals and what do you plan to do next?

Next year I hope to take an improved package to the national stage! You can say that the fire in my belly burns strong! I am also looking to compete in the power lifting arena as an offseason focus. I work so much harder knowing I have great goals!

What is the best advice you have been given on your own journey?

“It’s a journey not a race.” I repeat this to myself most days!

What advice would you give to other people out there who don’t quite know where to start their fitness journey?

Dive in head first! Everyone starts somewhere and it’s actually ok to not know what you are doing! Ask around if you are not sure on a certain exercise (most of us are so willing to help!) and never give up! Seek nutritional advice from people who know what they are doing! I am a huge advocate of Flexible Dieting along side amazing supplements to achieve your fitness goals!
