Welcome to my first blog for Bulk Nutrients!
By way of athletic background, I am an Adventurer. ‘Adventurer’ is really a non-specific term that encompasses a variety of physical pursuits (e.g. running, hiking, climbing) that I combine into long distance events, expeditions or record setting challenges. Undertaking adventure is really all about being ‘enduring’ – both mentally and physically over extended periods of time whilst in the most challenging outdoor environments subject to the absolute extremes of weather.
In November 2013, I was fortunate to set a world record by becoming the first person to climb all of Australia’s highest mainland mountains nonstop. The ‘A2k’, as it is known, required climbing 26 mountain peaks of 2000 metres or higher, hiking 130 kilometres across the Snowy Mountains through vast amounts of off-trail snow terrain, gaining nearly 6000 metres of elevation, enduring 48 hours of no sleep and surviving extreme alpine weather conditions.
I feel privileged to be part of the Bulk Nutrients Team and look forward to bringing some endurance insights to supplementation. The beauty of Bulk Nutrients is their extensive range of high-quality, no BS supplements – They truly are a ‘one-stop supplement shop’ for all your needs, regardless of whether you’re a bodybuilder, strength athlete or endurance athlete.
Over the next 10 weeks, I will be regularly documenting my training and preparation for a new record breaking adventure – A 70 kilometre never before attempted ultra marathon through the Snowy Mountains incorporating climbing the 21 highest peaks along the Main Range (Australia’s highest mountain range). You can find the full media release here: A21 Ultra Media Release
To kick things off, here is an insight into my current supplement regime. In terms of an overall philosophy, I try to focus on a minimial approach, using only those products I truly need to achieve peak performance and reach my goals.
ecuper8 (80g serving): Used during all running & endurance sessions beyond 60 minutes – my favourite product!
BCAA Recovery (1 serving): Taken intra-workout during all gym sessions
WPI (1 serving): Post workout and as a meal replacement with a tablespoon of coconut oil
Green Fusion (1 serve) & L-Glutamine (10grams): Taken first thing each morning on an empty stomach
ZMA (1 capsule): Taken pre-bed
Stay tuned over the coming weeks as I’ll detail all the key elements that go into the preparation for my record setting adventure.
