We have a record number of Bulk Nutrients staff and Ambassadors competing in season A this year! We thought we’d interview everyone to see how their prep is going, and see if they can share some advice for others also going on their season A journey. Will we be seeing you at any of the season A comps? Bring it on!
Bio: I’m a qualified strength & conditioning coach, ISSN Sports Nutritionist, competitive bodybuilder, powerlifter, now competing in WBFF Australia muscle model,
Position at Bulk Nutrients: Brand Ambassador.
How many comps have you done? 5 bodybuilding, 2 powerlifting, 2 muscle model comps.
How many weeks out are you? Just under 14 weeks.. 13 weeks and 5 days to be precise.
What comps are you competing in? I’m doing season A WBFF to start with and see what other comps I can do.
Do you have a trainer? Or are you prepping solo? Due to my work demands I train alone most of the time which I prefer, it keeps my intensity high and distractions low.
What is your favourite Muscle Group to train? LEGS… Joke, I love training arms.. who doesn’t?!!
Are you happy with your preparation so far? I’m ahead of schedule this year so I’m stoked. I put it down to working a lot on my mental approach in the off season and it seems to have paid off.
What do you love most about comp prep? I enjoy seeing daily/weekly changes in the body but the thing I love most is sharing comp day with friends & family.
What do you hate about comp prep? I don’t hate anything about prep, yes I might get hungry and tired but that’s all part of it. Learn to enjoy the challenges it’s much more positive way to approach comp prep.
Your goal for season A 2016? My goal is to bring my best package ever to WBFF, and all going to plan that will be top 3.
Bio: I grew up representing Tasmania in Hockey since the age of 13 and was fortunate enough to be awarded a Tasmanian institute of spots scholarship, and represent Tasmania in the senior Tasmanian Tigers Hockey team. I still play premier league hockey in Hobart for OHA Hockey Club, and we were fortunate enough to win the Grand Final last year. I lived in Sydney for many years, but moved back to Tasmania not long ago, and have been working at Bulk Nutrients for the last 18 months. I absolutely love my job, love being back in Tassie and it has inspired me to give bodybuilding a go!
Position at Bulk Nutrients: Social Media, Sponsorship and Events Manager

What is your favourite Muscle Group to train? Legs – you could bounce coins off my butt these days – the only downside is that my pants are getting increasingly tight!
Are you happy with your preparation so far? So far, so good – at 12 weeks out my body fat was sitting at 10.1% – which is a great place to be!
What do you love most about comp prep? I am really enjoying the process – each day I am learning something new! My body is responding well to the increased training intensity, and diet – so I am seeing composition changes weekly. It’s a little bit addictive.
What do you hate about comp prep? Posing. I don’t feel remotely sexy or attractive at all. In fact, I feel like a total dick doing it!
Your goal for season A 2016? To try and enjoy the process – I have been inspired by so many Bulk Nutrients fans on our social media – that I want to see if I am capable of being stage ready. I am also a vegetarian (not quite a vegan), so the whole prep process is a little harder for me than it is for the regular meat eater – so as long as I hold my own on stage, I will be a happy man!
Age: 23 Height: 164cm Current Weight: 58.3kg Body fat: 19.3%
Bio: I have been active my whole life. Swimming, playing tennis, soccer and then I joined a gym. I completed my first Fitness Competition in 2014 and loved it. Having always had this fitness/health interest it only made sense that I start up my Facebook and Instagram accounts Clean Treats and start work with Bulk Nutrients, having been here for over a year now I wouldn’t change that and love everyday with the Team. I also love to travel having been to America, Bali, New Zealand and Mexico I would love to see more of the world and its culture/history. I do enjoy all new experiences and giving things a go at least once before I rule them out as not for me, life is all about embracing things and having fun! My true home passion is cooking, while I cook a lot of ‘healthy/clean’ recipes through my CleanTreats social media pages, I love all sorts of cooking and challenging my skills.
Position at Bulk Nutrients: Customer Service, Product Development/Research Development, and Blog recipe contributor

Do you have a trainer? Or are you prepping solo? A trainer – I could personally not cope with the stress of managing myself during this period, they are the one that tell you what to do and vital for you sanity! I am trained by Sam Grachen for diet and training. I also train with Kieran Norquay (Mr Australasia IFBB 2014) as many weekends as possible!
What is your favourite Muscle Group to train? Probably Chest, I love how sore I always get!
Are you happy with your preparation so far? Yes, I think so. I am looking forward to seeing the skin fold results which are the only number I like to consider. I do not like to focus on scale weight at all as this doesn’t represent your progress. I am noticing my clothes change fit and happy with my level of strength with my training.
What do you love most about comp prep? The excitement, challenge and doing things that others say they cannot. It feels good to know you have a sense of willpower and discipline. I love to see the changes in my body and how amazing it is to react to small alterations. I also love picking out all the sparkly bikinis!
What do you hate about comp prep? Finishing my meal, because I have to wait until my next one! I would also be lying if I didn’t say the 5am gym sessions aren’t pretty hard some days!
Your goal for season A 2016? I just want to do my best. I would love to be the best (who wouldn’t!), but you can only put your own best foot forward and as long as I don’t leave anything in the tank I will be happy!
Favourite cheat meal? You know, I don’t actually think many people class my ‘cheat meals’ as very naughty! I love to make oven baked Teriyaki salmon with Asian style greens, crispy skin and black rice. I am not a huge sweet tooth but anything peanut butter is unreal, as is Pumpkin Pie!
What style of training are you currently following? My Training is currently a split of about 4/3. All 4 of my weight sessions are full body, lasting about 1 hr with till failure reps – it’s hard! I also complete 4 cardio sessions per week, either on my rest days or paired up. My cardio is either 12-15 minutes HIIT on the bike of incline 7 treadmill walk! I also like to incorporate some abs, calves and other smaller muscle groups of cardio days.
What colour bikini do you have? I have chosen a navy blue bikini, made by my work colleague Georgia for my INBA show! I am thinking white or red of WBFF!
Bio: From a young age I was always interested in being active. I played soccer for many years and all of my spare time was spent riding bikes or playing some sort of sport! I’ve been training in the gym for about 6 years now and love every minute of it. Last year I competed in two powerlifting events during my offseason for bodybuilding and placed highly in both comps.

What is your favourite Muscle Group to train? I enjoy training my lagging muscle groups; Legs and Shoulders.
Are you happy with your preparation so far? So far I am 100% on track and I believe I will bring a massive improvement to the stage in this comp!
What do you love most about comp prep? I love seeing change! Getting leaner and seeing all of the hard work paying off. I love the structure of the diet and that I am able to look forward to a cheat meal at the end of the week.
What do you hate about comp prep? Cardio!
Your goal for season A 2016? My goal is to improve on the last look I brought to the stage both in my physique and in my posing!
Bio: I’ve always been an active person. When I was younger I would run, play club netball and basketball. I’ve been going to the gym for 4 years, but body building training seriously for 2 years. I thought competing in my first body building comp would be a great challenge and really push me, I fell in love with competing and haven’t stopped! I now design and make my own comp bikinis and have just started making them for friends.
