Egg protein powder is a wholesome dietary supplement with all the nourishment needed by the body to grow lean mass, heal and recover quickly.
Egg Protein Powder is a rich source of protein which is also loaded with vitamins and minerals to deliver high nutrition. It is the perfect dietary supplement for building lean muscle mass, and helping the body heal and recover quickly after exercise.
Egg protein powder is separated, pasteurized, and dried egg. It is pure egg white powder (also called albumen powder) when it is made from egg white or albumen. It is a popular protein supplement because it is also loaded with vitamins and minerals. It contains all 9 essential amino acids including the all-important Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs).
Egg white powder is made by first isolating the egg white from the yolk. Removing the yolk isolates the protein content of the powder while pasteurisation removes bacteria and extends the shelf life. The egg white is finally spray-dried to reduce moisture content and make it packable. Egg white powder can be easily used as it is or added to juice to make shakes or smoothies. Egg white powder is available in Australia as a packed dietary supplement in different weights.
Egg protein powder contains high protein levels, about 25 grams of protein for every 30 grams of powder. This competes with the most refined whey or casein powders. But unlike them, it has no dairy or lactose which helps to reduce the risks of allergies. It also contains more naturally occurring vitamins and minerals per serving than any other protein powder.
Egg protein powder digests at an optimal pace; not so fast like whey, and not so slow like casein. This allows the protein to be fully absorbed in the digestive system. This allows your muscles to synthesise longer, which sustains energy levels for longer.
Egg protein powder is said to have high bioavailability which is the score for a protein accounting for how easy it is to digest the protein and the range of amino acids it contains. Egg protein powder scores a perfect biological level of 100 making it a complete protein and it also has all the 21 amino acids needed by the human body.
In a whole egg, you get proteins and fats almost on the same ration. An average egg will have about 6 grams of protein and 5 grams of fat. Separating the yolk and drying the egg white leaves behind concentrated proteins in smaller weight. You will get about 4 times more protein from the same weight of egg white powder. The fat level is also very low, at about 0.5 g compared to the 20g you would get from the 4 whole eggs. Keeping fats low is crucial when you are trying to gain lean mass without fat gain.
Egg white powder contains all the three Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAA), which are leucine, isoleucine, and valine. BCAAs have about 40% of the protein needs of the body. They play very crucial roles in healing and recovery:
Egg protein powder is perfect for gaining lean muscle while keeping low body weight. This is very important if you need both endurance and explosiveness, for example, in boxing. Egg protein powder contains the arginine, which in turn, enhances protein synthesis in the muscles, and the regeneration of muscle fibre.
You can consume egg white powder raw, although many people find the taste a little bit unappealing. You can add it to a juice to make a quick post-workout drink. Egg protein powder is also popularly used in baking, protein pancakes, and savoury recipes. You can make a quick omelette by mixing with water, some vegetables, and favourite spices.
Egg protein powder lasts longer than fresh eggs and carries less risk of having toxins like salmonella, which are killed during pasteurization. You do not need to store egg protein powder in the freezer or fridge, unlike fresh eggs. It is safe if you store it in a cool dry place. However, it should not come into contact with moisture to prevent the risk of developing mould and toxins. Egg protein powder also comes with the advantage of portability. You can easily carry a serving to whip up a snack or meal, unlike fresh eggs which are awkward to carry.
