What are “inactive ingredients”?
On a supplement label, inactive ingredients are components that don’t directly provide the main nutritional or performance benefits. Instead, they’re included to:
- Improve flavour or sweetness (e.g. natural flavours, sweeteners)
- Enhance texture or mixability (e.g. thickeners, stabilisers)
- Preserve freshness and shelf life (e.g. anti-caking agents, preservatives)
They support the taste, quality, and usability of the product without being the key active nutrients.
