Spiced Apple Winter Oats

A delicious winter brekkie
Protein oats make the ideal breakfast, especially when it’s a little chilly out!
Warming, comforting and super nutritious you’ll stay full all morning.
Fuel yourself for a massive workout, a big day at work or hours ahead at uni.
Whatever you’re up to, this recipe will get you ready for it.
Serves: 2 (or 1 very hungry athlete)
Ingredients
- 1 scoop (30g) Bulk Nutrients WPI, WPC, Protein Matrix+ or MuscleFood 101 in Vanilla
- 1 cup whole oats
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 teaspoon honey – plus extra to serve
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- 20g raisins
- 20g sultanas
- 1-2 apples – cored and chopped
- 1 cinnamon quill (or ground cinnamon) for topping
- Crushed nuts for topping – we love pecans and apples together!
- Coconut oil – to cook
Directions
- Soak oats and sultanas or raisins with water for at least an hour prior to cooking. For best results, soak them overnight.
- Using a large pan, melt coconut oil and add cinnamon.
- Slice apples thinly and add them to the pan, occasionally stirring for 3-5 minutes or until tender.
- Prepare the oat mix:
- On the stove top by adding almond milk, cinnamon and honey to oats and cooking for 5-10 minutes. Once the mixture has reached the desired consistency, stir in the scoop of protein. Pour into a bowl with additional almond milk is desired and top with cooked apple mix, a drizzle of honey and crushed nuts.
- In the microwave by adding almond milk, cinnamon and honey to oats and cooking for 3-4 minutes on high. Once the mixture has reached the desired consistency, stir in the scoop of protein.
