Hi, I'm Lachlan Josey...

I'm an active lad, who spends a whole lot of time chasing an adrenaline rush!

I'm currently competing in Motocross at a state and national level. While working in the fitness industry, I've managed to combine my two passions and create training programs for elite motocross athletes, The MX Academy.

Being able to test the methodology of our training program and ensure the principles transfer to increased performance on the bike is something that sets me apart from other coaches!

If I'm not coaching or out on the dirt bike, you'll find me out ripping local trails on my mountain bike, or in the garage tinkering on my motorhome, making sure we can sneak in an adventure whenever I please. I also carry a scuba and skydiving license... You know, in case I get bored of the other activities!

Alongside The MX Academy, I coach with an AMAZING team at Coaching Society, so if it's not adrenaline you're chasing, then we can tame things down a little and tick the boxes your way!

Lachlan's approach to nutrition

My personal opinion on nutrition is simple.. do as little as possible to get maximum results. Sounds lazy right... no, it sounds efficient.

First off, I just want to preface this by saying; I am consuming all the colours of the rainbow from many different types of fruit and veg daily.

LESS VARIETY IS BETTER - For me anyway!

So if you're anything like me, you think food is a pain in the backside to organise and prep week in and week out. Personally, I'm consuming the same breakfast, snack, lunch and afternoon snack EVERY DAY! My only variable is dinner.

Why do I do this? It means I hit the same base nutrition pretty much every day, with little to no thought process involved, leaving me with more time to spend thinking about other areas of life that matter to me.

Not only that, but it helps me identify the cause of any issues and injuries, as this is one metric that RARELY changes.

Are there Foods you Crave: Man I've got a sweet tooth..

Your go-to Cheat Meal? Schnitz. Hawaiian roll with avocado, large chips with sweet chilli mayo.

  • Monday - Active Recovery & Rehab
  • Tuesday - Strength & Conditioning
  • Wednesday - Cycling & Motocross training
  • Thursday - Strength & Conditioning
  • Friday - Blood flow & Race Prep

Coming from a gnarly training schedule in competitive CrossFit a few years back, stepping back into a program that promotes health and structure has been incredible!

When it comes to strength, I'm finding ways to make a simple movement, far more difficult, this is where efficiency meets maximum results.

Nearly all accessory exercises are completed unilaterally, levelling out the natural imbalances of the body.

I choose cycling a lot when it comes to motocross as it's far lower impact than running, we're already putting our bodies through hell and back on the bike.

Latest Results

Do you have any medium/long term goals you're working towards?

For me personally, it is to grow The MX Academy. Driving all over our beautiful country with my family, riding dirt bikes, running coaching days and exploring everything Australia has to offer.

Have you had any exceptional results (in competitions or otherwise) in the last few years?

I grew up racing motocross, but after 15 years of racing, I gave the sport away due to a streak of injuries..

Coming back into the sport this year, it was just a building year, but I managed to not only finish 6th in our state series, but build a business in the industry to provide everyone with a service that will keep the sport thriving!
